(Bonn, 09.02.2026) The International Institute for Religious Freedom (IIRF) just published the latest issue of the International Journal for Religious Freedom (IJRF). Amid increased attention in academia and a growing interest in the topic of religious freedom among national governments and international bodies in recent years, the 18th Volume of the IJRF takes a look at religious freedom and measures of tolerance.
This issue of the IJRF includes two articles addressing current issues in South Africa that also affect many European countries – hate speech and restrictions on church bells and calls to prayer. It also includes a philosophical article questioning why under secularism atheists make decisions about religion. Finally, two articles address how data can be used to advocate for religious freedom. The issue also includes reviews of eight books related to religious freedom as well as an extensive Noteworthy section, which highlights recent new online reports on religious freedom.
