Schirrmacher thanks Liberian Acting Interior Minister Hon. Samuel F. Today

(Bonn, 26.03.2025) The President of the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) thanked the Acting Liberian Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Samuel F. Today for his spontaneous and enormous help to the Liberian refugees displaced from the refugee camp in Buduburam.

After visiting the camp in Ghana a few days after it was demolished and tens of thousands of refugees were displaced, the President of ISHR together with the Secretary General of ISHR, Matthias Boehning, asked Bishop Kortu Brown, Head of the Apostolic Church International of Liberia, to arrange a meeting with the Minister of Interior of Liberia, Hon. Francis S. Nyumanlin. Since he was out of the country, Bishop Kortu arranged a meeting with the Acting Minister of Interior, Hon. Samuel F. Today, who is also the CEO of the Ministry. He received the eyewitness accounts of the two men and took immediate action. The next day, the President of Liberia went public and criticized Ghana and Ghana in turn began to negotiate a solution. Schirrmacher and Boehning later had a long zoom session with the responsible people in the government of Ghana.

Hon. Samuel F. Today was Superintendent or Governor of Bomi County before taking office in the federal government, which Schirrmacher has visited several times because the Apostolic Church International of Liberia has several projects to educate rural people and help deaf children in the county, which includes large parts of the tropical rain forest of Liberia.
